Mbebali Mobilized by Mutual Respect

Third-world countries are challenged with a lack of systems in place and resources to perform services. An extra challenge was present in the case of the Mbebali village because the community became bitterly divided when missed communication brought misunderstanding and skepticism.

Local groups began to navigate the divide. Meetings and minutes reflected apologies and attempts to calm the rough waters. At that point, three catchments and a collecting chamber had been constructed but no tank had been built. The Mbebali community was ready to dig pipelines and provide the stones, sand, and labor to continue the project to completion. Their plea to Fahmiyanwi was to provide the required pipes.

Fahmiyanwi was able to reassure the people that we loved them and wanted to avoid disagreement, taking the positive aspects to heart. In the end, all involved rekindled kindness and set aside former difficulties. The community became united once again. They received “life” not only because of life-giving water, but because their brotherly love had been restored.

Mbebali Bafut Project Cost: $28,500; Project Impact: Population 1490 and 310 households. That means just $19 could save a life that may have been lost to diseases like cholera, dysentary, typhoid fever, and malaria!

“We can reject the opportunity to be used of God, or we can seize opportunities to impact others as a testimony to Him.”
—Billy Graham
