2 - Be Ready

When opportunity meets preparedness, some call it luck. But luck is not the source of success! In my world, there is no such thing as “luck.” Maybe it actually exists, but if it does, then it is an acronym for Laboring Under Correct Knowledge.

“Of what use is money in the hand of a fool since he has no intention of acquiring wisdom?”
Proverbs 17:16 (TLV)

If you do not program yourself, no amount of money will make you successful. We all know boys and girls who came from rich parents but are wretched today. Condition your body and position yourself to receive the blessing that the Lord has for you.

Here is simple but valuable advice: Whatever business you are in, learn all you can about your trade.

I knew of a carpenter from Akum in Bamenda back in Yaounde when I was at the university in 1984. He only finished primary school but was determined to better his English and French. He studied on his own and enrolled in night school. When he came across some missionaries, he became a translator because of his fluency in English and French.

He later moved to Texas and lived the “American dream.” But do not say he was lucky! He was more than lucky; he was prepared.

Dear brothers and sisters, be ready for what God has for you.

ACTION PLAN #2

  • Make a list of your long-term goals. Start with something you would like to attain within the next five years.

  • Make a list of short-term goals you would like to complete in the near future.

  • Next to each goal, write down a plan and timeline for how you intend to accomplish the goal.
